Slovácko, our south-easternmost wine region, has seen the blossoming of modern wineries, among other treasures in this picturesque area. We had the pleasure of exploring it all, guided by the charming digital creator from Slovakia, Ivanka Antal. Along the way, we also ventured into Velké Pavlovice region... So, hop on and join us for the journey.

We'll begin at a place with a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. Just outside the village of Němčičky, near the vineyard, you'll find the blue food truck called "Mezi řádky". Your best bet is to pre-order a picnic basket. It ensures an authentic experience with plenty of opportunities to marvel at the idyllic landscape of the Modré hory (Blue Mountains).
After lunch, take an easy walk from Vrbice to the Stezka nad vinohrady (Path Above the Vineyards) on Kobylí vrch (Kobylí Hill) lookout tower, which perfectly complements the architectural theme of this excursion. Instead of jutting into the sky like a beacon, it delicately emerges from the surrounding landscape. If viewed from above, it would resemble a snail's shell. The design, an unfinished circle, mirrors the hill's elevation where the viewpoint is situated. It describes a 334° circumference, offering panoramic vistas in every direction.
Another architectural gem stands in the heart of Velké Pavlovice. Once a dilapidated Baroque granary, it has now been transformed into the remarkable hotel Lotrinský, featuring numerous clever details and design delights. Dining in the restaurant, where architects fantastically merged the past and the present by incorporating original arches generously adorned with glass, metal, and wood, will be a beautiful experience. The hotel also includes an extensive historic cellar beneath the village, where we recommend booking a tour. František Lotrinský's cellars have a unique atmosphere and conceal many rare vintages... And the best part? You don't have to go anywhere else; you can spend the night right at the hotel.
Following breakfast, we'll head to Starý Poddvorov, home to the young biodynamic winery, Krásná Hora. This ensemble of snow-white barns with saddle roofs harmonizes seamlessly with the local architecture, yet upon closer examination, it reveals its unconventional details. Make sure to pre-arrange your visit with a tasting. Relax by the large glass wall overlooking the vineyards. In Starý Poddvorov, take a detour to see the German-style windmill, a fixture here since 1870.
From Poddvorov, it's just a short hop to Čejkovice, a place renowned for the herbal paradise known as Sonnentor. This acclaimed organic tea producer opened a new interactive tour in the spring of 2023, and we strongly recommend paying it a visit. You'll get a glimpse behind the scenes of tea production and be captivated by the original solutions and details that architects and designers have introduced here. You can easily spend the entire afternoon at the Sonnentor premises. There's a lookout terrace, herbal beds, a barefoot trail, or a giant hammock net. Children will have fun in the sandbox or on the tractor. Treat yourself to tea, coffee, or homemade lemonade in the fragrant café!
You'll spend an unforgettable night at the boutique hotel Vinařství Škrobák, just a few steps from Sonnentor. This winery, hotel, and bistro combination is situated on the edge of the village, offering a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere. The Škrobák family has chosen a distinctly modern design for the winery, emphasizing the fusion of wine and gastronomy. And you'll get to savour all of it to your heart's content right here.
We're heading towards the northwestern corner of the Slovácko region. On our way through Moravian Tuscany, it's worth stopping at Vyhlídka Soudek (the Soudek Lookout) above Šardice. This stylish lookout, which has been here since 2017, offers you beautiful panoramic views. For lunch, we recommend a visit to the Bukovanský mlýn. Not only will you enjoy excellent food, but there are also plenty of leisure activities to enjoy.
The last winery and the final stop of our entire journey is Vinařství SPIELBERG in Archlebov. This beautiful estate invites you to relax and, of course, to taste their wines, with a delightful pastry shop on-site as well. They often host public events here, but even if there isn't one scheduled during your visit, the laid-back Tuscany-like atmosphere will embrace you, providing a wonderful conclusion to your trip.
