Start your trip in Hodonín, whether you come by train or by car. The first destination is the ZOO Hodonín. It is not the most frequently visited zoo in the Czech Republic, but it is the most frequently visited destination in the Hodonín region. Visitors here won’t face the danger of huge crowds like in the Prague Zoo, and you don’t have to walk that far. The zoo is home to seventy endangered species of fauna from around the world: rare chimpanzees, green monkeys, the Callitrichidae, lemurs, meerkats, and more. (Note that admission is based on an obligatory online reservation system due to the coronavirus situation.)
Are your kids up to monkey business after visiting the zoo, but you would rather take a break and have some coffee? Visit the 3D maze opposite the ZOO with your kids, where you will find one hundred and ninety metres of bridges in nets, three floors and three difficulty levels. Adults, too, will enjoy the adventure in the treetops. This maze was made with great craftsmanship and tested on kids.
Finish this wonderful day with an evening cruise on the Morava River at the U Jezu Pier, a truly romantic experience! You can get there on foot along the green tourist trail. Don’t forget to print out a ticket for your kids free of charge!
I want a children’s ticket free of charge.
Would you rather top up this day with some relaxation? Unwind body and soul at the Hodonín Day Spa, namely its wellness centre. Looking for some cultural leisure? Head for the Gallery of Fine Arts, where you can see not only contemporary works but also an elaborate selection of works connected with South Moravia.
Where to find lodgings for the night? We recommend the very centre of Hodonín – there are lots of options.
Day two: After you have breakfast and warm up, visit the town-hall tower in Hodonín. There are 150 stairs, but you will be rewarded by a lovely view of the town and its surroundings from the White Carpathians to Pálava.
And now it is time for nature. Either on foot or by bike, go and see the local folklore in Mutěnice. You will love the painted cellars called Mutěnické Búdy! The red tourist trail of T. G. Masaryk will lead you to Mutěnické Búdy right from the town hall. You will get a well-deserved reward at the end of your journey – you will always find somebody among the six hundred cellars who will be happy to chat about local customs, wine or folklore with you… and of course who will offer you a glass of Moravian wine. If you are hungry, there is the Pod Búdami restaurant.
Do you still have some energy left? Climb among the cellars and through vineyards to the Vyšicko Lookout Tower.
And now it is time to go back. All you have to do is go down to the train stop called Mutěnice, zastávka and head back home.
We have found other places you might like. Have a look at them.
