The trip begins at the outskirts of Pavlov, at the place where mammoth hunters lived thirty thousand years ago: the Archeopark Pavlov. The nearest bus stop called Pavlov, Rozcestí (Pavlov, Crossroads) is only a few metres from it. At the Archeopark, you will learn not only how mammoths were hunted, but also who made the famous Venus of Dolní Věstonice (called Věstonická Venuše in Czech)! Kids will enjoy an educational game with puzzle solving among the exhibits. The museum building itself is an artistic treasure and it has been recognized with many architecture awards.

The journey from the ancient museum will require some more demanding physical activity: you will climb to the highest peak of the Pálava Protected Landscape Area, Děvín. Walk along the Archeostezka Dolní Věstonice-Pavlov nature trail, past beautiful Baroque cellars to a wayside shine, where you will turn onto the Děvín nature trail. Are you running out of energy? The lovely panoramas are worth the burnt calories. You can enjoy a fantastic view both from Děvčičky and from the other peak a bit further still.

Finish the pleasant walk along the ridge, following the red tourist trail called Svatojakubská Cesta (St. Jacobs’s Trail), by a slight ascent to the Sirotčí Hrádek (Orphan’s Castle) viewpoint. Relax, from here the way from the ruins only leads downhill. You may want to make a stop in Klentnice to have some good coffee and something sweet in the famous Cafe Fara. The bus stop for the journey back home is just a few metres down the hill.
