The starting point of the trip is the train station in Lužice. If you go by car, start your journey on the premises of Cihelna (Brickyard), also known as “Lužák”, with statues made of stone, a restaurant and swimming among nature, where you will have no problem finding a parking space. (Be careful, it is so pleasant here that there is a danger you might want to spend the whole day here.)
Start following the blue tourist marker directly at the train station and go along it to the Slavic Hillfort in Mikulčice, the main attraction of this trip. After you have visited the hillfort and gone up the lookout tower, follow the Podluží Wine Trail. We recommend that you make the first short stop on the route in the village of Mikulčice, in the house where Fanoš Mikulecký, the composer of the classic songs “Vínečko bílé” and “V širém poli studánečka” was born. The local information centre of the Bartoník family, which produces wine, jams and other delicacies, is not far from the house. You might be interested in the museum of wine-making next to the information centre. Or make a short stop at Starý Kvartýr. This museum is picturesque beyond description and if you want to get acquainted with traditions and folklore, definitely do it here.
Finish your trip at Lužák again, where the Podluží bike trail leads, and be ready for some pleasant swimming and cold beer. Simply a perfect trip from beginning till end.
