You can see the reservoir from the train stop in Letovice. It is enough to go 3 kilometres along bike trail No. 5166 and you will get to the area of Svitavice, ideal for swimming. The reservoir is almost 5 kilometres long and it modifies the flow of the Svitava River. Set sails and go windsurfing, jump in a kayak, catch some fish (fishing permit required) – hooray for water sports! if the weather is not good for swimming, you can at least try to skim stones on the water’s surface and see how many skips you can make.
Have you enjoyed the glints of water to the max? Proceed towards the picturesque village of Lazinov, go around the western tip of the reservoir and you will be welcomed by Křetín. Make a stop here and explore the “railway in a room”. This world of trains built on 40 square metres is the result of meticulous work by the local association of modellers.
Bike trail No. 5160 then continues to Vranová, another paradise for swimmers. The surroundings of the reservoir with views of the water surface and green hedges are beautiful. Visiting the Letovice Chateau will give certain nonchalance to your steps. Rebuilt in Neo-Gothic style, the chateau is privately owned these days. Over hundreds of years, the chateau has witnessed the stories of more than a dozen noble families. Walk through the spacious riding hall, decorative rooms and the feared torture chamber. Have a glass of wine in a wine cellar or in a restaurant. You will be captivated by the vast chateau park, one of the most precious in South Moravia. The aesthetic and compact composition of the English-style park will bring you peace of mind.
