The town of Valtice is a treasure of its own. It is about wine in all respects. But the jewel of Valtice is a huge Baroque chateau. The National Wine Salon of the Czech Republic is located right inside it. The former residence of the Liechtenstein family is a monumental building in every way. The space between the chateau and the town has the form of a courtyard of honour.
During the tour of the chateau, the ostentatiously decorated chateau interiors with stylish Baroque and Rococo furnishings will take your breath away. Everything is impressive and full of pomp, but especially the chateau chapel, the Spanish stables and the dancing hall stand out with the richness of their stucco and painted decorations. There is a children’s corner on the ground floor.
The chateau cellar is the oldest cellar in Valtice. You will learn here of the history of viticulture, and you can taste the results of the work of the most famous Valtice-based wine company Vinné sklepy Valtice (Chateau Valtice).
A walk through the large chateau garden or a tour of the restored Baroque interactive theatre is also an experience. In the surroundings of the chateau, visit the structures of the Reistna Colonnade and Rendez-Vous which are open to the public. And you shouldn’t miss the beautiful Herb Garden, organic of course!
