The Holy Hill, another impressive natural dominant feature of Mikulov. You will be reliably led up to its peak, up to the St. Sebastian’s Chapel , the bell tower and the God’s tomb by the Stations of the Cross. The famous Holy Hill at an altitude of 363 meters above sea level is one of the Pavlov Hills.
Thanks to the rich occurrence of protected and rare species of plants and animals, this area has been a nature reserve since 1992. Thermophilic insects are abundant in the local steppes. One of the most popular vertebrates of the Holy Hill is the eagle owl nesting in the wall of an abandoned quarry. Rocky steppe diverse in species grows on the southern slopes (dwarf iris, Teucrium montanum or European feather grass – you will certainly recognize the latter as it is a funny, white hairy grass). Not able to recognize plants by their names? It doesn’t matter. All you have to do is see this beauty with your own eyes and take a walk there and back.
The Holy Hill seems to oversee the motion of the city and greet visitors. The town of Mikulov lying on the Amber Trail reveals its perfect beauty to you. Do you look for places with a unique atmosphere? You are definitely at the right address here.
