The grand Art Nouveau villa looks more like a castle. It is a monument to the family that forever changed the character of the village of Svitávka with their entrepreneurial spirit.
Brno is renowned for its iconic villas, and many of them were owned by Jewish textile industrialists. Thanks to them, Brno was called the Moravian Manchester. Next to the most famous Tugendhat Villa stands the Art Nouveau villa of the Löw-Beer family.
During its heyday, guests admired the noble marble staircase, brocade walls, fireplace, and billiards in the representative villa. The Löw-Beers had both their business headquarters and a family haven in the villa. The industrious family brought wealth to the community with woollen goods from Svitávka, providing locals with jobs and social security.
Today, in the villa, you will find a permanent exhibition Jews in Moravia with a connection to the Löw-Beer family, which provides testimony to the life of the Jewish community in Moravia, and you will also see rare items such as a Jewish tombstone from 1411. Do not forget to peek into the breathtaking library, offering a beautiful view of the extraordinary garden.
