The route of this bike trail maps the most interesting places related to the great painter Alfons Mucha, his works and his inspiration. Let’s start at the train station in Moravský Krumlov.

Go by bike to Krumlov Chateau, where Mucha’s most extensive work, the Slav Epic, was kept for a long time. He worked on these paintings for seventeen years! You cannot see it here any more, but wait for the next item on the itinerary of the trip, the Miroslav Chateau. It looks a bit like a castle, the renovations were really successful, and apart from architecture and a large pile of Lego cubes, you can see the Slav Epic as a large-format puzzle here!

The next destination of the bike trip is also a chateau: Ema’s Chateau in Šanov. Mucha decorated it at the early stage of his career, but not much was left of the paintings after a fire. The chateau is not accessible to the public, so just enjoy the view of it along the way. Note that you are now entering the Karlov Nature Reserve. A lot of protected species of fauna and flora grow, run and nest here, so don’t forget to enjoy the sight of them as you go.

The final destination of the trip is Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou. A beautiful fresco from the time when Mucha was young covers the whole ceiling of an office at the local town hall. For many years, it was hidden under plaster, which perfectly preserved it. We recommend you finish your trip in Hrušovany by having something sweet in the confectionery!
