Even from a great distance this majestic castle will tempt all to come and visit it. No wonder Napoleon himself spent the night here.
In Pálava and in Mikulov itself, tourists hardly know where to go first, but you definitely shouldn’t miss the chateau. It stands on a rocky cliff as the right landmark. Originally, it was a castle dating back to the 13th century, because it was simply impossible not to make use of such a convenient location. Today, no one would believe that the castle burned down in 1945, so successful was the subsequent renovation.
Most of the time, the structure was owned by the powerful Liechtensteins, followed by the Dietrichsteins. They left us a beautiful library and a hall of ancestors. Today, the chateau is the seat of the Regional Museum in Mikulov, which has prepared several exhibitions for you. There are both guided and self-guided tours here. Which one will you choose?
