Some cellar alleys are old and charming. These fifteen cellars are bold, modern and bursting with colour.
The cellar alley in Velké Pavlovice has not been standing for hundreds of years, rather it was completed in 2012 under the name Pod Starou Horou. The fifteen wine cellars are an unusual spectacle bursting with cheerful colours in every corner (or rather, every window). Each cellar has a different colour – orange, green, blue, yellow… But it is not only this that catches your eye at first sight. These are mainly wavy shapes that break away from traditional architecture. (The wine houses vaguely resemble the exuberant buildings of the Austrian architect Hundertwasser.) They seem to be in motion… well, just like drunken cellars!
Maybe it’s too crazy for some, but no one can deny that the Pod Starou Horou cellar alley offers positive vibes, and only a few people frown when they visit it. On top of that, the complex won 3rd place in the Building of the South Moravian Region 2012 competition in the category of Residential Buildings.
Twelve houses belong to private owners, while the remaining ones can be rented for your holiday in South Moravia. And in the cellar, of course, taste the local wines from Velké Pavlovice!
