One of the best and oldest European vineyards is situated in the heart of the Podyjí National Park, along the bends of the Dyje River.
Experts would not hesitate to bet their best wine taster on the quality of wines from the Šobes vineyard. And what is more, the vineyard is set in an absolutely lovely place, in the deep valley of the laid-back Dyje River, in the very heart of the only Moravian national park, Podyjí.
The wine from the Šobes vineyard owes its excellent properties to the perfect location of the vineyard: at an ideal altitude, on a sunny southern slope protected from wind, warm days vs. colder nights in the Znojmo region, rocky and acidic soil with gneiss subsoil… and the Dyje River nearby! The local microclimate is similar to that of the Rhine and the Rhône regions, which are also famous for their fantastic wines.
The vineyard’s surroundings are beautiful and when the weather is warm, do not hesitate to spread out a blanket and picnic by the Dyje River, followed by a plunge into the water. On the way up to the vineyard, keep your eyes peeled for the local fauna and flora – after all, you are in the middle of a national park which it is inhabited by many rare species: exotic-looking green lizards in sunny places, hoopoes and spotted woodpeckers in the treetops, salamanders in the water and more.
It is a particularly good idea to come for a visit (on foot or by bike) in the summer months. You can choose which of the local wines you want to sample right at the company stand in the vineyard. Will you choose a Riesling or rather a Pinot Gris?
