The original medieval castle was transformed into a Renaissance chateau in the 16th century during the reign of the Lords of Lipá. It got the form of a quadrangular building with a courtyard in the middle and beautiful arcades on three floors. The Swedish troops destroyed a great deal of it, so the chateau underwent several renovations. The last of them, in the Baroque style, was carried out under the Liechtenstein family.
Currently, the chateau houses an exhibition of 20 large-scale paintings of the Slavic Epic by Alfons Mucha - the phenomenal symbolist and the icon of high Art Nouveau. Follow in his footsteps where he loved it and where he get inspired.
