State Kunštát Chateau

This site, one of the oldest castles in Moravia and today a chateau, will be appreciated by fans of ornate historic interiors.

Originally a castle dating back to the 13th century, it was gradually transformed into a chateau in the Renaissance and Baroque style, but we can forgive the owners because the interiors are really lovely. You can see original furniture and other equipment belonging to the last aristocratic owners here.

This valuable complex of chateau buildings is surrounded by a park built in the 17th century. It features a unique dog cemetery. If your kids are initially unhappy about the cemetery, the names on the tombstones will definitely cheer them up after a while.

The chateau has prepared a miniature route called Stops Around the Chateau that takes you through the chateau’s immediate environs for about an hour and half. The pleasant journey goes through the Panská Zahrada (Aristocratic Garden), then through the chateau’s enclosure with animals, through the above-mentioned dog cemetery, the chateau’s shooting range, and you will see the Horní and Dolní Zámek (Upper and Lower Chateau) from the northern and the western side. The whole route is equipped with information boards and it is suitable for wheelchair users. You can have something good to eat in the chateau restaurant after the walk.
