The inspiration for this event came from actual historical events, as on November 20, 1805, the French emperor arrived in Brno with his army and took up residence in the Governor's Palace. The French army occupied Brno practically without a fight, and the Austrian garrison even abandoned the Špilberk fortress and retreated to Olomouc. The city thus involuntarily provided Napoleon and his soldiers with the base they needed to prepare for the upcoming victorious battle at Slavkov (December 2, 1805).
