The Museum of Villages in South-East Moravia presents the regions of Slovácko – thanks to the area of Moravské Kopanice, Luhačovické Zálesí, Horňácko, technical water structures, the wine-growing area and the meadow management area. All among a terrain which was artificially modelled with embankments and planted with greenery to correspond to the original environment.

Both you and your kids will enjoy a fun tour which is guided by your new friend Fanošek.

The exhibitions introduce the traditional way of life of the people both in the mountain areas of the Slovácko region and in the fertile part of Pomoraví, where most of the farmers dedicate themselves to growing grapes. A demonstration of vineyard buildings and equipment plus a vineyard representing wine-growing from ancient times to the present is the only exhibition of its kind in the Czech Republic. Craft production is represented by a smithery from Lipov and a weaving workshop from Nová Lhota in the Horňácko region.

The Baroque building of the former brewery from 1612 serves as the entrance structure to the museum. Beer was still brewed here as late as 1874. If you are hungry, you can have something to eat in the local restaurant and you can buy a tasteful souvenir in the Folklorika shop selling folk products from producers who have been awarded the title Bearer of the Tradition.

The museum is open during the summer tourist season, but you can experience interactive programs even in winter. In spring, there’s an Easter show with drowning an effigy of death, nošení létéčka (parading with decorated pine-tree twigs), plaiting willow canes, painting Easter eggs, and more. Children will enjoy Firemen’s Sunday with demonstrations of historical and contemporary equipment and firefighting interventions. The Advent program presents the customs and cuisine of this popular period. On the last weekend of June, the museum is one of the places where the Strážnice International Folklore Festival and Children’s Strážnice take place.
