Would you like to own a chateau? Would you be able to renovate it? In this case, the private owner did a very good job.
The modern lord of Letovice has even won the competition for the Best Renovated Cultural Monument in the South Moravian Region. The Neo-Gothic chateau was originally a castle which was first mentioned in 1360. Its fate resembles the legendary Phoenix, which rose from the ashes. While the legendary phoenix managed to do so only once, the Letovice Chateau has stubbornly risen several times. It was first conquered by the Hussites in the 15th century. Then it was seized by the Swedes in the 17th century, but it did not cease to exist then either. It burnt down with the whole town one hundred years later. It was long under the care of the Hungarian Kálnoky family (1820–1945), but it fell into a dilapidated state under communism. Thanks to the efforts of its current owner, it has been rising again since 2004. In fact, today one wouldn’t say that it is rising as much as outright shining.
Come to admire not only the magnificently renovated interiors, but also the English park with a fountain and a multifunctional riding hall. Flea markets with antiques and collectible curiosities are held here, and children will enjoy the mini ZOO. Looking for some romance? Rent a chateau suite! Looking for some adrenaline? Spend a night in the dungeon!
