Set out to see the almond trees along the nature trail from the bus station in Hustopeče. The first part of the nature trail is parallel to the Trail of T. G. Masaryk (Cesta T. G. Masaryka), because the mother of the first Czech president came from Hustopeče. Young Tomáš Masaryk lived and studied at a grammar school here.
The trail will lead you out of the town and to a ranch. Horses, goats, lamas, kangaroos – a paradise for kids! Continue past the Přední and Zadní (Front and Rear) ponds and climb up the hill from the crossroads under the Kamenný Vrch (Stony Hill). Clink! The lush greenery and steppe grass, as well as a distant view, will appear in front of you quite quickly.
The Almond Nature Trail (Mandloňová Naučná Stezka) will guide you to the lookout tower. Clink! There are countless almond shells lying at your feet. If you manage to find a whole almond on the ground, do not hesitate to crack it open. The trees around you are taken care of by many professionals and laypeople. Everybody cares about the future of this unique orchard.
The trail goes back to Hustopeče. Can you hear the third clink? Have a toast with a delicious new beer which was launched last summer: almond beer. Cheers!
