What castle would it be if a White Lady did not live there? The White Lady of Cornštejn has her own story: legend says that the wife of Hynek of Lichtenburg jumped out of the window when her husband was killed in battle with the royal army. Rumour has it that Hynek had hidden a barrel filled with treasure in a castle well before he died. You have a chance to see this apparition on Palm Sunday, when the barrel emerges from a well.

The ruins of the Cornštejn Castle pulse with life all season. People who like medieval times will be thrilled here. You can look forward to jugglers, medieval music and performances by swordsmen. There are hardly any places where history is within such easy reach as in Cornštejn.

The castle is worth a visit not only because of the interesting facts about its construction and history, but manly because of the breathtaking views of the Vranov Reservoir and its surroundings! You can also visit the beautiful Bítov Castle and the wonderful Vranov nad Dyjí Chateau, which are in the same area.
